Privacy Policy

Last updated October 18, 2026Effective October 18, 2026

This policy explains what personal information KDigital LLC (“we”, “us”) collects when you use CT Local Listings (ctlocallistings.com), how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.

Summary of key points

The short version. The full text below is what counts.

  • What we collect. What you give us (an account, a claim, a review, a message, a contact form, a newsletter signup, a photo of a place, a purchase) and a little that’s collected automatically, like your IP address when you view a listing.
  • We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.
  • Only essential cookies. We count visits with Rybbit, which uses no cookies and doesn’t store your IP address. No advertising trackers.
  • A few service providers help us run the site: Stripe for payments, our web host, Rybbit for visit counts, and the services that show fonts, maps and profile pictures.
  • You’re in control. Ask us to see, correct, copy or delete your information, and appeal if we say no.

What information we collect

In short Mostly what you choose to give us, plus a little technical information.

Information you give us

  • Account: your username, email address and password (stored scrambled, never as plain text), and anything you add to your profile.
  • Claiming or adding a business: your name, your role, a business email address and a phone number, plus the listing details, photos and logo you add.
  • Reviews: your rating, review text and display name, which are shown publicly.
  • Messages: what you send to a business through the site. If a listing hasn’t been claimed yet, messages to it come to us.
  • Contact form: your name, email address, the topic, the listing link if you add one, and your message.
  • Newsletter: your email address, and the date and IP address of your signup and confirmation, to show you agreed.
  • Photos of places: the photo you send us for a park, library or other public place, the name you give for the credit, and your email address. We re-save every photo, which removes its location and camera details. Approved photos are shown on the place’s pages with your name; your email address is never shown.
  • Purchases: your name, email address, billing details and what you bought. Card payments are handled by Stripe: your card number goes straight to Stripe, and we never see or store it.

Information collected automatically

  • Visit statistics: when you view a listing, we record your IP address, your browser type and the page that sent you, so owners can see how their listing is doing. We delete this after 30 days.
  • Site analytics: we use Rybbit, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits across the site: the pages viewed, the page or site that sent you, your browser, device type and screen size, your approximate country and region, campaign tags in links, clicks on links to other websites, and how fast pages load. Rybbit uses no cookies or browser storage, and uses your IP address only to work out your country and region; it doesn’t store it. Visitor counts are reset every day, so we can’t follow you from one day to the next. It doesn’t run when you’re signed in, or on account, cart, checkout and newsletter pages.
  • Server logs: like most websites, our server keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, pages requested, browser) to keep the site secure and working.
  • Cookies: only the ones the site needs to work. See our Cookie Policy.
  • Your location: only if you choose a “near me” search, and your browser asks your permission first. We use it to show nearby results and don’t save it to your account or to our visit statistics.

Information about businesses

Listings are built from open map data (Overture Maps and OpenStreetMap) about businesses and public places: names, addresses, phone numbers, websites and opening hours. If a listing includes information about you that you’d like changed or removed, contact us and we’ll fix or remove it, usually the same day.

How we use your information

  • To run the site and your account, and to show your reviews and listings.
  • To check that a business claim is genuine.
  • To deliver messages between you and businesses.
  • To answer your questions and requests.
  • To send the New in CT newsletter, if you signed up. Our emails may record whether they’re opened and which links are clicked, so we can tell what’s useful.
  • To take payments for Featured and Spotlight, and keep the records the law requires.
  • To show owners how many people view their listing.
  • To keep the site secure, and to prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We don’t make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

When we share your information

In short With the services that help us run the site, and when you make something public. Never for advertising.

  • Stripe processes card payments.
  • Rybbit counts visits for us, as described under Site analytics above.
  • Our web host stores the website and its data.
  • Google Fonts serves our typeface, so Google’s servers see your IP address.
  • OpenStreetMap serves the map images, so its servers see your IP address.
  • Gravatar (Automattic) shows profile pictures next to reviews and accounts, using a scrambled form of the email address.
  • Google Maps, only when you choose Get directions, which opens Google Maps.
  • Business owners receive the messages you send them, and can read the reviews you post.
  • Everyone can see what you post publicly, such as reviews and your display name.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety or our rights.
  • A new owner, if KDigital LLC ever sells CT Local Listings. We’d tell you first.

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising.

Cookies

We only use cookies the site needs to work, such as keeping you signed in and holding your order at checkout. We don’t use advertising cookies, and our analytics service (Rybbit) doesn’t use cookies at all. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

How long we keep it

  • Visit statistics: 30 days.
  • Site analytics: Rybbit’s records hold no IP address, name or email address, and Rybbit deletes them after its retention period (three years on its standard plans).
  • Contact messages: as long as we need them to deal with your request.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Photos of places: an approved photo and its credit stay up while the listing does, unless you ask us to take them down. We delete your email address once we’ve told you the photo is up, and delete rejected photos within 30 days. To stop floods of uploads, we keep a scrambled version of your IP address for one day.
  • Accounts, reviews and messages: until you close your account or ask us to delete them.
  • Order records: as long as tax and accounting rules require.

How we protect it

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), store passwords scrambled, limit who can see personal information, and let Stripe handle card details. No website is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise that information will never be accessed without permission. If a breach affects your personal information, we’ll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

CT Local Listings isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. You must be 18 to have an account. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your privacy rights

In short Ask us to see, correct, copy or delete your information. We reply within 45 days, and you can appeal.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and give you a copy
  • correct information that’s wrong
  • delete your information
  • give you your information in a format you can take elsewhere
  • stop sending you emails (or use the unsubscribe link in any email)

If you live in Connecticut, or another state with a privacy law, these are also your rights under that law. You also have the right to opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling. We don’t do any of those things.

How to make a request

Use our privacy request form or email hello [at] ctlocallistings.com. We’ll confirm the request comes from you, usually by checking it against the email address on your account, and reply within 45 days. If we need longer, we’ll tell you why, and can take up to 45 more days. Requests are free. You can ask someone to make a request for you, but we’ll need proof that you agreed. We won’t treat you differently for using your rights.

How to appeal

If we decline your request, you can appeal within 45 days by replying to our answer, or by emailing hello [at] ctlocallistings.com with “Appeal” in the subject. We’ll reply within 60 days. If you’re still not satisfied, Connecticut residents can contact the Connecticut Attorney General.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We don’t track you across other websites, so there’s nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale of your information and targeted advertising. We don’t do either.

People outside the United States

CT Local Listings is meant for people in the United States, and your information is stored in the United States.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also tell account holders by email.
